Master Artist-Sculptor Vollis Simpson Dies at 94

Simpson had major installations not only at his home in Lucama, but commissions by the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games, the North Carolina Museum of Art and the Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore.  In South Carolina he was included in the exhibition Still Worth Keeping:  Communities, Perseveration and Self Taught Artists at the State Museum.  (AP Photo: Gerry Boome).
