Professor Anne Fiala and 5 students go to Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design workshop at East Carolina University.


This weekend the five students from the Guild of Emerging Metalsmiths (GEM) including Renee Holliday, Brandy Scholl, Kitty Nix, Charlie Hickey, and Katie Law traveled with Jewelry Metals instructor Anne Fiala to the North Carolina Outer Banks’ Columbia, N.C. to take a workshop with Bob Ebendorf and Tim Lazure, Professors of Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design at East Carolina University.  The workshop was hosted by Jewelry and Metal Artist Collective of the Carolinas (JMAC) and featured different fabrication techniques in the construction of silver band rings, creating customized texturing tools, and the integration of found objects in jewelry using cold connection techniques.
