CAROLINE RUST l The Tints That Glow
What do locks, lipsticks, perfume bottles, compacts, gloves, doors, and chocolate candies collectively have in common? They each have taken up residence in the new art works featured in the exhibition The Tints That Glow by Caroline Rust.
Using Lord Byron’s poem She Walks in Beauty as a backbone, the Tints That Glow embodies installations of paintings and objects. Based upon an exploration of femininity and its evasive qualities, the emphasis of Caroline’s current work has unfolded into a multifaceted examination of the feminine world, the woman’s identity, and her pursuit for a sense of self. Through a study of cosmetics and the woman’s utensils, these works investigate the internal lives of women while focusing upon her objects either cherished or loathed.
Caroline received a BFA from East Carolina University and an MFA from Winthrop University. She is a recent recipient of grants from the ACYC / SC Arts Commission and the ASC. Numerous patrons world-wide collect Caroline’s work and she exhibits annually across the US in solo and group exhibitions.
